Giancarlo Esposito reveals that he wants to join James Gunn’sDC Universe, as there is a famous Batman villain he has in mind. WhileThe Brave and The Boldmoviewill serve as the DCU’sBatmanreboot, it also means various villains from Bruce Wayne’s mythology will be getting reimagined in the franchise. While the DCU have yet to tap its new Caped Crusader, other actors are already wanting to board the franchise as some of Batman’s greatest enemies.

In a new interview withIGN, Esposito revealed to the outlet that he is interested in taking part in Gunn’s DCU franchise, and he already knows what he wants as his dream role. According toIGN,Esposito wants to play none other than Mr. Freeze in the DCU timeline.

Esposito’s DCU comments is coming very shortly after he just made his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as he played Seth Voelker a.k.a. Sidewinder inCaptain America: Brave New World. While he wants to play Mr. Freeze, there have been no comments yet from DC Studios as to whether or not Victor will be inThe Brave and The Bold.

What Giancarlo Esposito’s Mr. Freeze Comments Mean For The DCU

While time will tell if Mr. Freeze is inthe DCU’s Chapter 1: “Gods and Monsters,“the fact that Esposito wants this specific Batman role speaks volumes in itself. Despite already being attached to the MCU, if Esposito is sharing he wants to play a character like Mr. Freeze, it may imply that he could do both, even though DC and Marvel have been limited with sharing actors across their franchises at the same time. For the time being, Sidewinder’s future in the MCU is unclear, as it remains to be seen where he will show up afterCaptain America: Brave New World.

Outside of Clayface’s solo movie coming up,it’s also unclear what the DCU is planning to do with most of its Batman villains. However, getting someone as talented as Esposito to play Mr. Freeze would be a major casting for the DCU franchise, as he has a great track record with playing supervillains. AsBatman villains in the DCU timelinestart getting their due in Gunn’s reboot, time will tell if Esposito is on DC Studios' radar for the time being.

Our Take On Giancarlo Esposito’s Mr. Freeze Comments

While it’s not yet clear whether Esposito will get a chance to audition for Mr. Freeze,it would be incredible if he got cast as Victor in the DCU franchise, as he could also give the villain a proper cinematic portrayal after 1997’sBatman & Robin. If there truly is a scenario where he can be both in the DCU and MCU timelines at the same time, it’s a big win for both franchises. Hopefully, when DC Studios begins to look for their Mr. Freeze, Esposito will at least be considered for the iconic DC foe in theDCU.

DC Universe

The DC Universe is one of the biggest comic book franchises and often competes with Marvel. DC Comics started as National Allied Publications, founded by Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson in 1935. Since then, the franchise has exploded with thousands of comic books, movies, TV shows, and video games. 2013 marked the beginning of the most recent iteration of the superheroes, with Zack Snyder introducing Henry Cavill as Superman. After several movies with mixed reviews, DC underwent a soft reboot under the helm of James Gunn and Peter Safran.
