Fans ofMy Hero Academia Vigilanteshave long awaited the opportunity to see the series animated, but even more than that, to seeVigilantes' hero, Koichi Haimawari, drawn by the original series creator, Kohei Horikoshi. To celebrate the release of the new anime, Horikoshi has at last answered fans' wishes and provided an image of Koichi.
Since the end of the main series manga, Horikoshi has been drawing art of many of the characters, from a recent image of Mirko that ruffled feathers for its brilliant lighting, to images of Aizawa and Shigaraki in fantasy-like outfits. GiventhatMy Hero Academia Vigilantespremiered this weekend, it seemed like an appropriate time for Horikoshi to drop someVigilantesartwork, and sure enough, he fulfilled fan desires, offering a picture of the Crawler in action along with reminders about the show’s airing time in Japan.

Horikoshi Offers A Cool, Dark Take on Koichi
Horikoshi’s Art Makes the Crawler Look Awesome
The artwork, posted to X (Formerly Twitter), depicts Koichi in aSpider-Man-like pose, as he crawls forward with an emphasis on his fingertips making contact first. The level of detail in the art is phenomenal, and the lighting is highly unique. Koichi can sometimes look a bit silly, since his crimefighting outfit is primarily a hoodie themed after All Might, but there’s no risk of that happening here. This marks the first time that Horikoshi has drawn the protagonist ofVigilantes, aside from his incredibly brief cameo in the final chapters ofMy Hero Academia, so it’s an exciting moment for many fans of the franchise.
Of course,My Hero Academia’s Horikoshi wasn’t the only one celebrating. The artist forVigilantes, Betten Court, also released some new artwork for the series' premiere, a sketch depicting Koichi bringing coffee to Knuckleduster and Pop Step. Knuckleduster appears to already be drinking a beer, while Pop is on her phone and out of costume. The trio are likely hanging out in Koichi’s apartment, a common scene from the manga.

Fans Finally Get to See Koichi in Horikoshi’s Style
Horikoshi Makes Koichi Look as Cool as He Is
While Betten Court obviously got to draw many of Horikoshi’s characters throughout the run of theMy Hero Academia Vigilantesmanga, the reverse wasn’t as true. Many of the crossovers are one-way only, withMy Hero Academiacharacters appearing inVigilantes, but not vice versa. As such, it’s supremely satisfying for fans ofVigilantesto finally see Horikoshi’s take on theMy Hero Academiaworld’s other big protagonist, and hopefully more characters fromVigilanteswill get a drawing from Horikoshi as well as the series continues.
Horikoshi has been quite prolific at putting out art pieces since theMy Hero Academiamanga concluded last year, so there’s certainly a chance moreVigilantesart could be on the way. Hopefully, Horikoshi has as much fun drawing the new artwork as fans will have looking it over, and it will beMy Hero Academia Vigilantesgreatest promotion yet.
