2025 will bring yet another Disney live-action remake withSnow White, which has already been plagued by controversy, and the latest trailer only highlights the biggest problem of this adaptation. Disney continues to ride the wave of the live-action trend, taking some of its most popular and beloved animated classics and giving them this treatment. Despite having more misses than hits with these remakes so far, the studio still has various live-action remakes coming up, among themSnow White, a reimagining of the studio’s very first animated movie,Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Directed by Marc Webb,Snow Whitetakes the same story as the 1937 movie but with some changesto also appeal to new generations.Snow White, then, is the story of the title princess (played by Rachel Zegler), who, after her father’s death, lives with her evil stepmother, simply known as the Evil Queen (Gal Gadot). When the latter tries to kill her, Snow White flees to the woods, where she meets seven dwarves who take her in.Snow White’s marketing campaign has already begun, and a full trailer has been released, but it only makes the movie’s biggest problem even worse.

Snow White’s Trailer Shows The Biggest Problem Of Its CGI Characters & Settings

The World Of Snow White Doesn’t Look Good

When it comes to Disney’s recent remakes, the term “live-action” has been taken lightly and can be debated, as most of these movies have heavy CGI work. Such is the case forSnow White, in whicheven the dwarves have a lot of CGIto make them look as they should. This caused a lot of controversy as Disney only cast one actor with dwarfism and the rest of the dwarves are played by actors without dwarfism, thus using CGI to give them the desired appearance. On top of that, the CGI isn’t exactly the best, and they ended up looking not human.

The CGI dwarves aren’t the only problem caused by CGI inSnow White. The settings, especially the forests, are also CGI, and they don’t look real at all.Snow Whiteseems to be set in a world that is way too fantasy-looking that Disney wants to sell as “realistic” as it’s a live-action remake, but even the smallest details, like the leaves on the trees and the grass, look unnatural.

Snow Whitehas clashing visuals and doesn’t quite fit the “live-action” label.

Surely, the animals in the woods are supposed to do things that animals wouldn’t do, such as help Snow White clean the dwarves’ home and more, so they had to have a lot of CGI work done, but they look too cartoonish but with a photorealistic look, two very different styles that don’t really go well together.Snow Whitehas clashing visuals and doesn’t quite fit the “live-action” label, but the big problem is that they make the movie hard to sell to viewers.
