Keeping an eye on who is going to appear inDexter: Resurrectionhas been one of the most fascinating aspects of waiting for the follow-up toDexter: New Blood, and the latest casting announcement is so unexpected in a great way. I’m expecting the upcoming continuation of the story Michael C. Hall’s titular character to adopt a similar tone to the other shows, includingDexter: Original Sin. Although early signs are certainly pointing somewhere near that direction,Resurrectionhas now proven to have unexpected elements.
Hall has already returned to the franchise in a limited capacity forDexter: Original Sin, but he will finally get a proper comeback by leading theDexter: Resurrectioncast. Set to continue the events put in motion by the now-retconnedending ofDexter: New Blood,Resurrectionhas only a few characters who can return from the original showand its limited series follow-up, especially considering howDexter’s original endingwent. As such,Resurrectionis introducing a bunch of new characters, and I can’t wait to see one in particular.
Eric Stonestreet Joining The Cast Of Dexter: Resurrection Is Very Exciting
The Modern Family star brings something unexpected to the Dexter: Resurrection cast
Michael C. Hall won’t be playing the only serial killer inDexter: Resurrection, asDeadlinehas announced that Eric Stonestreet will be making his franchise debut as a new character called Al - who is believed to be similar to Dexter in his desire to kill. Like so many others,I’m most familiar with Stonestreet’s work inModern Family, where he played Cam Mitchell in all 11 seasons. However, he has a strong background in comedy that predatesModern Family, so playing Al inResurrectionwill presumably have the actor playing against type.
It’s always a thrill to see a comedy actor venture into dramatic acting, and I’m sure the experience will be just as rewarding for Stonestreet’s four-episode run inDexter: Resurrection. After years of him making me laugh, it’ll be enthralling to see Stronestreet playing such a dark character. I know it’s probably an unfair comparison, butI hope the scenario is like Brian Cranston thriving as Walter White inBreaking Badafter years of playing Hal Wilkerson inMalcolm in the Middle.
Dexter: Resurrection’s Cast Is Already One Of The Best Things About The New Show
Michael C. Hall will be joined by some other huge names
Stonestreet isn’t the only cast announcement that’s got me excitedforDexter: Resurrection. As well as being very happy that Hall himself will be playing Dexter again, the upcoming show boasts other huge names who, like Stonestreet, have never appeared in the franchise before. To name a few, Neil Patrick Harris, Peter Dinklage, and Krysten Ritter will all feature inDexter: Resurrection, so I’m now just hoping the storyline lives up to the hype of all those landmark castings.
