Warning: This article contains spoilers for Deadpool & Wolverine.
Summary
While some of Deadpool’s best allies were missing fromDeadpool & Wolverine, it’s still possible they could return in futureMCUprojects.Deadpool & Wolverinemarked the returns of many characters associated with Ryan Reynolds' Merc with a Mouth, including several who took part in20th Century Fox’s previousDeadpoolmovies. The likes of Stefan Kapičić’s Colossus, Brianna Hildebrand’s Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Leslie Uggams' Blind Al and Karan Soni’s Dopinder, among others, returned, but other notable characters were curiously unseen.
Deadpool’s closest friends from Earth-10005didn’t have a huge role inDeadpool & Wolverine, but they were the catalyst for Deadpool’s attempts to save his universe from Mr. Paradox and, later, Cassandra Nova. Hilariously, Rob Delaney’s Peter, the human X-Force member fromDeadpool 2, had the largest role of all Deadpool’s supporting cast, butwhile it was great to get to know Peter better, some majorDeadpoolfranchise characters were ignored. Not all hope is lost, however, asDeadpool & Wolverine’sendingensured these missing characters could still return in the MCU’s future.

Cable, Domino & Firefist Were Missing From Deadpool & Wolverine, Despite Deadpool 2’s Ending
At the end ofDeadpool 2, Cable used the last of his time travel technology to save Deadpool’s life, claiming he wanted to remain in the present day to ensure the world’s protection. This ended the fight against Russell Collins' Firefist, and seemed to establish something of anew X-Force team, replacing the version that had been fully wiped out by the wind earlier in the movie. This X-Force-style team comprised Deadpool, Cable, Domino, Firefist, Colossus and Dopinder, but only half this group returned inDeadpool & Wolverine.
The absences of Cable, Domino and Firefist inDeadpool & Wolverinewere confusing, as each had survivedDeadpool 2, and there had been no word of them leaving their new found family. Each of these actors denied their involvement in the lead-up toDeadpool & Wolverine’srelease, Zazie Beetz toDecider, Josh Brolin toThe Playlist, and Julian Dennison toCBR. However, their absences weren’t explained inDeadpool & Wolverineitself, and the ending of the Phase 5 movie could have left the door open for their return.

Every Cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine Explained
Deadpool & Wolverine is packed to the brim with cameos from across the entire run of Marvel films, combining the numerous timelines together.
Earth-10005’s Survival Means Cable, Domino & Firefist Can Still Return
Prior toDeadpool & Wolverine’srelease,it was heavily theorized that the movie would feature the destruction of 20th Century Fox’sX-MenUniverse, dubbed Earth-10005. This would have explained the absences of several notable characters from the two-decade-long franchise, and would have given Marvel Studios the perfect opportunity to recast and reinvent theX-Men team for the MCU. However, this didn’t happen, as Deadpool and Wolverine stopped Cassandra Nova’s destructive plan and saved Earth-10005.
The fact that Earth-10005 is still around means that future MCU projects can revisit this alternate reality. This will likely happen if Deadpool is to cross over permanently into the MCU’s main continuity. This means that Josh Brolin, Zazie Beetz and Julian Dennison can still return as Cable, Domino and Firefist, respectively. These heroes would be a huge asset toDeadpool’s future MCU adventures, and to the franchise as a whole, as they were some of the best parts ofDeadpool 2, and were sorely missed inDeadpool & Wolverine.
