Deadpool & Wolverinedelivered plenty of action and humor, but perhaps its most memorable feature was the wealth of cameos fromMarveland beyond. Given Deadpool’s fourth-wall-breaking antics and Wolverine’s long history in theX-Menuniverse, many expected some major surprises, and the movie didn’t disappoint.Deadpool & Wolverinewas filled with Easter eggsand references, including numerous familiar faces. Deadpool & Wolverinemarked the official conclusion ofFox’sX-Mentimelineand transitioned the eponymous heroes intothe MCU timeline. The movie celebrates the early era of comic book movies, referencing numerous aspects of Fox’s Marvel universe. 10Blake Lively As Ladypool

Ryan Reynolds' Wife

One of the most debated and somewhat expectedcameos inDeadpool & Wolverinewas Blake Lively appearing as Ladypool. While Lively is better known for her work inGossip GirlandA Simple Favor, her connection to Deadpool made her a prime candidate - she’s married to Deadpool himself, Ryan Reynolds. Ladypool, a femalevariant of Deadpool, appears in the thrilling Deadpool army scene inDeadpool & Wolverine.

Ladypool originally appeared inDeadpool Corps#1 (2010) as part of the multiversal Deadpool team. Her cameo inDeadpool & Wolverineis short, with her identity being kept hidden by her mask. Nevertheless, her brief appearance in the trailer led to fervent speculation online. Lively’s involvement wasn’t confirmed until after the movie’s release, and it was perfect because Lively and Reynolds have a very jovial relationship, frequently barbing each other on social media. As Ryan Reynolds infused a lot of his own personality into his performance,Lively’s casting as his female counterpart was very fitting.

9Jon Favreau As Happy Hogan

Originally From Iron Man

Jon Favreau, the actor-director responsible for kicking off the Marvel Cinematic Universe withIron Man(2008), makes a surprise appearance as Happy Hogan. Favreau’s cameo comes early in the movie, during a scene where Deadpool is applying to become an Avenger. Hisdeadpan delivery and interactions with Deadpool’s toned down civilian identitywas a hilarious dynamic.

Happy Hogan originally appeared in the comics as Tony Stark’s bodyguard, and Favreau first portrayed him inIron Man.Favreau appeared as Happy in each of theIron Mantrilogy, as well as Tom Holland’sSpider-Mantrilogy, andAvengers: Infinity WarandAvengers: Endgame. His appearance inDeadpool & Wolverinebridges theX-Menuniverse with one of the MCU’s early architects. Favreau’s return as Happy Hogan was a welcome nod to the larger Marvel world, and his comedic chemistry with Reynolds was perfect for the tone of the film.

8Aaron Stanford As Pyro

Originally From X2: X-Men United

Aaron Stanford reprised his role as Pyro, the fiery mutant who appeared in the originalX-Mentrilogy. InDeadpool & Wolverine, Pyro appeared in the Void, working for Cassandra Nova and memorably saps Johnny Storm’s flames. Pyro has long beenone of the more intriguing members of theX-Menmovies, starting as a student at Xavier’s school before turning rogue and joining Magneto’s Brotherhood.

Compared to otherX-Mencharacters, Pyro seems like quite a minor player, buthas one of the most compelling arcs in the original trilogy. InDeadpool & Wolverine, Stanford’s brief return to the character gives viewers a nostalgic callback to the earlyX-Menfilms while showcasing Pyro’s aggressive powers. His fiery abilities are impressively rendered, and his dynamic with Wolverine, who shares a history with Pyro, adds depth to the scene.

7Tyler Mane As Sabretooth

Originally From X-Men (2000)

Tyler Mane, who portrayed Sabretooth inX-Men(2000), makes a surprising return inDeadpool & Wolverine. Sabretooth also appears in the void, where Deadpool and Wolverine are ambushed by several mutants. Sabretooth’s rivalry with Wolverine comes to the forefront, with the twoexchanging brutal blows in an intense fight scene reminiscent of their earlyX-Menclashes.

Tyler Mane’s portrayal of the character in the originalX-Menfilmwas imposing and memorable- certainly more iconic than his depiction in the prequel,X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Bringing Mane back forDeadpool & Wolverinebrought Fox’sX-Menuniverse full circle. Mane’s cameo was too short, but it was fun because it finally gave Mane the chance for a rematch with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. Their rivalry was key to Wolverine’s character, making it a great way to celebrate Jackman’s tenure.

6Dafne Keen As X-23

Originally From Logan

Dafne Keen’s return as X-23, Logan’s cloned daughter fromLogan(2017), was one of the most anticipatedcameos inDeadpool & Wolverine. X-23 appears in a handful of scenes, but most memorably, during the final act of the movie, where she faces off against Juggernaut in the Void. Keenbrings the same ferocity and emotional depthto the role that made her debut so unforgettable in Logan.

X-23, or Laura Kinney, first appeared inX-Men: Evolutionbefore making her comic debut in 2004. Keen’s portrayal of X-23 has been widely praised, and her brief return inDeadpool & Wolverineadds emotional weight to the story. The father-daughter-like bond between Wolverine and X-23 is further explored in their few scenes together. Keen’s cameo helps ground the movie emotionally, while also delivering some of the best action sequences in the film.

5Channing Tatum As Gambit

From Several Failed Movie Attempts

After years of rumors and near-misses, Channing Tatum finally makes his debut as Gambit inDeadpool & Wolverine. Tatum’s Gambit appears as part of the heroic resistance in the Void, aiding Deadpool and Wolverine in their siege on Cassandra Nova’s base. This cameo was notable because of themany, grueling, years that Tatum petitioned for a soloGambitmoviein which he would play the Ragin’ Cajun. Unfortunately, unlike Reynolds andDeadpool, it was never made.

Gambit has been a fan favorite ever since he first appeared inUncanny X-Men#266 (1990). His underwhelming appearance inX-Men Origin: Wolverineseemingly killed any hopes that he would appear in another movie.Deadpool & Wolverinesatisfied both audiences and Tatum, offering aGambit in a highly comic-accurate costume and a dynamic application of his iconic powers. While not perfect, Gambit’s appearance inDeadpool & Wolverineteased the possibility of future involvement in the MCU.

4Jennifer Garner As Elektra

Originally From Daredevil

Jennifer Garner’s return as Elektra inDeadpool & Wolverinewasone of the few explicitly announced before the movie. This led many to assume she might have a larger role in the movie, but instead only appeared in a few scenes as part of the resistance in the Void. Nevertheless, Garner’s cameo was thrilling, bringing her signature martial arts skills and deadly precision to the table, holding her own alongside the two superpowered anti-heroes.

Garner’s Elektra was last seen in the widely deridedElektra(2005), but originated in the slightly more favoredDaredevil. As one of the most intriguing and iconic Marvel characters, it wassatisfying seeing Garner redeem her rocky history with the character. Her cameo inDeadpool & Wolverineis short, but it’s action-packed, with Garner proving she can still handle the role’s physical demands.

3Wesley Snipes As Blade

Originally From The Blade Trilogy

Wesley Snipes’ cameo as Blade inDeadpool & Wolverinewas one of the most surprising. The reason for this is two-fold. Firstly, Snipes gavea very convincing denialwhen asked if he would appear. Secondly, there were reports that Snipes and Reynolds feuded on the set ofBlade Trinity. The pair claim these reports were exaggerated, but likely stemmed from the fact thatboth actors infuse so much of themselves into their performances, and their characters were supposed to dislike each other.

This blurring of reality was entreatingly lampooned inDeadpool & Wolverinewhen Deadpool quips that Blade never liked him anyway. The famed Marvel vampire has been a staple for decades, with the MCU releasing its own soloBlademovie. Yet Snipes persists and the most quintessential performance and his cameo inDeadpool & Wolverineonly proved why.

2Henry Cavill

Frequently Fan-Casted As Wolverine

One of the most satisfying cameos inDeadpool & Wolverinemanaged toappease a long-requested fan-casting, Henry Cavill as Wolverine. Early inDeadpool & Wolverine, Wade Wilson is hopping through universes in search for a Wolverine variant. In one universe, he stumbles into a garage where Henry Cavill’s Wolverine is chomping on a cigar.

It was very pleasing to see Cavill finally assume the role after years of viewer speculation. The cameo was alsonotable for Deadpool’s hilarious quips about DC, even going so far as to suggest that Cavill should join Marvel more permanently because they would treat him better. Henry Cavill’sDeadpool & Wolverinecameo was a delightful surprise during the Wolverine variant scene, and proved precisely why Cavill has been repeatedly suggested for the role for the MCU’sX-Men.

1Chris Evans As Johnny Storm

Originally From Fantastic Four

The best cameo inDeadpool & Wolverinewas Chris Evans' return as the Fantastic Four’s Human Torch - Johnny Storm. Johnny Storm appears early in the movie as one of the first people Deadpool and Wolverine encounter in the Void. He receives an especially memorable death at the hands of Cassandra Nova, and appears in the incredibly entertaining post-credits sequence. Chris Evans' Human Torch wasa vital part of the early Marvel movies, and was a perfect choice to help celebrate the era.

Chris Evans’Deadpool & Wolverinecameo worked for numerous reasons, partly because it set up the idea that Evans would be playing Captain America, and then delivered a surprise reveal. Another major highlight wasseeing Johnny’s expletive-laden rantafter years of seeing Evans playing upstanding and respectable superheroes. Instead, Evans' cameo was silly and mature, making it perfect for those in theDeadpool & Wolverineaudience who grew up watchingFantastic Four.
