Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Star Wars: Inquisitors #4Darth Vader’sbrutality is on full display in his latest Jedi battle, rivaling his various showdowns with Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke Skywalker. During the Dark Times, Darth Vader was in command of the Imperial Inquisitors, a force of deadly hunters who searched the galaxy for any surviving Jedi who survived Order 66. However, there were a select number of Jedi who demanded Vader’s personal attention, and this small list of Jedi now includes none other than Tensu Run.

As seen in Marvel’s canonicalStar Wars: Inquisitors #4from Rodney Barnes and Ramon Rosanas, Darth Vader has grown tired of his Inquisitors' recurring failures to capture or kill Tensu Ren, a Jedi Knight seeking to rebuild the Jedi Order who’s also willing to face his hunters directly. As such, this new and final issue ofInquisitorssees Vader assembling the Grand Inquisitor, Fifth Brother, and the Seventh and Ninth Sisters to face Tensu Run together. However, Darth Vader himself also arrives on the scene to ensure that his will is finally carried out:

Darth Vader and Grand Inquisitor Face Tensu Run

Promising that Tensu Run will be nothing more than a forgotten relic of the extinct Jedi Order,Vader is shown using the Force to throw the Jedi Knight around like a rag doll after unleashing the fury of his Inquisitors upon him. Incredibly brutal and certainly not fair by any means, it’s clear that Darth Vader’s goal is to end Tensu Run’s legacy at all costs.

Tensu Run Earned The Sith Lord’s Dark Attention

This newInquisitorsseries as a whole has confirmed thatTensu Run was one of Darth Vader’s most wanted targets. Having taken careful note of the Jedi’s exploits saving Imperial prisoners as he worked to build a new Jedi Order, Vader knew that Run’s greatest power was his ability to inspire others and provide hope.As such, this made Tensu incredibly dangerous and a major threat to the Empire in Vader’s eyes.

The argument is made in this newStar Warsseries that if Tensu Run had simply kept a low profile with his followers, he might have been able to gain a bigger base of power and resistance than he did. However, the Grand Inquisitor’s murder of Tensu’s master led to Run’s decision to face the Inquisitors directly. While Tensu did defeat each one he faced, this guaranteed his showdown with Darth Vader himself and all the Inquisitors at once, sealing his fate when he could have done so much morefor his people which the issue implies will now scatter and fade without their leader to inspire them.

Burying His Legacy of Hope

Killing a battered and beaten Tensu Run with a dark swing of his lightsaber, Darth Vader personally murders Tensu Run himself at the end of this final issue before ordering theGrand Inquisitorto retrieve his head. However,Vader orders that the body should remain where it lay so that Tensu’s legend and legacy will eventually be forgotten by the rest of the galaxycurrently under the Empire’s rule and oppressive grip. To that end, Darth Vader’s sinister victory in this issue is one of his quickest Jedi battles while also being one of his most brutal, having unleashed both his command of the dark side and his Inquisitors with deadly power and force.

Star Wars: Inquisitors #4is on sale now from Marvel Comics.

Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader

Conceived by the will of the Force itself, Anakin Skywalker was the prophesied Chosen One, destined to bring the Force into balance. Anakin struggled to balance competing attachments to the Jedi Order and his wife Padmé Amidala, and ultimately fell to the dark side, becoming Darth Vader. For years he served as Palpatine’s right hand man, but he was ultimately redeemed by the faith of his son, Luke Skywalker. Now a Force Ghost, Anakin continues to act as an agent of balance.
