Criminal Minds: Evolutionstar Paget Brewster gives a very positive update about the status of season 3 and shares her hopes for season 4. In 2022, Paramount+ revived CBS’Criminal Mindsonly a mere two years after it first went off the air, taking on a new format for its streaming era. Brewster returned as BAU Unit Chief Emily Prentiss alongside several other members of the original cast, including Joe Mantegna, AJ Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, Aisha Tyler, and Adam Rodriguez. Season 2 aired last summer, andCriminal Minds: Evolutionseason 3is expected to premiere this year.
While speaking toColliderabout her Audible Original Podcast,The Signal, Brewster revealed thatCriminal Minds: Evolutionseason 3 wrapped filming in December, andthe episodes are all ready to go. Though she didn’t know when Paramount+ plans to release them, she added that she recently recorded additional dialogue for the season. Brewster also shared that everyone is hoping for a fourth season. Check out her full comments below:

It is a long-running show. We completed 10 more episodes in December that haven’t aired yet, but we don’t know when they’re going to air, and we are hoping to get a pick-up for Season 19. We’re hoping, fingers crossed, that they’ll pick us up again. There are two seasons of Criminal Minds: Evolution on Paramount+.The third season is ready to air. I just did additional dialogue in our studio here with the broken arm. I hobbled on down into the garage to do the ADR, so I know the episodes are done, and they’re ready to air, but I don’t know when they’re going to air them.
To answer your question, we know how lucky we are, and we’re so thankful that we get to shoot the show again now and that we get to shoot it in Los Angeles and give people jobs when so many jobs have left town. So,our fingers are crossed that we get Paramount+ Season 4 for Evolution. And I’m so glad you like the show! I’m so glad.

What This Means For Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 3
Season 3 Could Begin Very Soon
With a finale that concluded the Gold Star storyline,Criminal Minds: Evolutionseason 2 endedin early August 2024, and filming for season 3 began that month. Brewster’s recent ADR session confirms the new episodes are in the post-production stages. While other major streaming shows can have prolonged post-production stretches,Criminal Minds: Evolutiondoesn’t require as many special effectsas titles such asAndorandHouse of the Dragon, so it can move through the process a bit faster.
To use season 2 as a comparison, filming began in January 2024 and wrapped that May. It then began airing on Paramount+ in June; the speedy turnaround time was likely due to the show’s weekly release schedule, which allows for early episodes to air while later installments are being completed. If this basic timeline holds,Criminal Minds: Evolutionseason 3 could begin airing in March or April.
Each season ofEvolutionhas so far featured 10 episodes.
Additionally, Brewster’s hope thatCriminal Minds: Evolutionwill get a season 4 bodes well for its prospects, thoughits ultimate fate will lie with its streaming figures. Clearly, it has been successful enough so far to warrant three seasons, and it is coming off the back of the originalCriminal Minds' huge 15-season run. Unless there’s a huge drop-off with season 3, the Paramount+ reboot should easily get that season 4 renewal.
Our Take On Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 3
Season 3 Could Be The Most Exciting One Yet
Criminal Minds: Evolutionseason 3 is an enticing prospect, mostly becauseits story will largely move beyond the arcs featured in the first two seasons. Though Elias Voit (Zach Gilford) will still be a part of what’s to come despite his near-fatal season 2 ending, Gold Star has been wrapped up, and the BAU will move onto another case. Additionally, the likely onscreen return of Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler) raises interest even further. I’m hopeful season 3 will arrive within the next few months after reading Brewster’s update and eager to see what comes next.
