Glen Powell’s first major return to television has been revealed in theChad Powersteaser trailer. The TV show is based on the titular character created by two-time Super Bowl winner Eli Manning, exploring the story of a hotshot quarterback who, after tanking his college career with his toxic behavior, elects to disguise himself and begin playing for a struggling Southern football team. Alongside Powell, the ensembleChad Powerscast includesSiloalum Steve Zahn, Toby Huss, Perry Mattfeld, Wynn Everett, Frankie A. Rodriguez and Clayne Crawford.
With the show’s release year right around the corner,Huluhas unveiled the firstChad Powersteaser trailer. The video, a very quick look at the upcoming show, offers a full look at the transformation Powell is undergoing for his role in the sports comedy, while also teasing some of the other main characters on the college football team he’s part of. Check out the teaser trailer below:

It Looks To Be A Flip Of Another Hit Comedy
Clocking in at just 14 seconds, theChad Powersteaser trailer certainly leaves a lot up in the air about what to expect from the show. However, one thing it does seem to hint at is thatPowell’s Russ Holliday will find himself as much outside of his element as in his favorite worldas he joins the college team at the heart of the show. Brief glimpses of his interactions with other characters on the team seem to point to Russ either doing very well to embrace the affable nature of Chad or rubbing some of the team the wrong way.
Chad Powersmarks Powell’s first main TV role since Ryan Murphy’sScream Queensin 2015.

One thing that does appear clear, however, is thatChad Powerscould find itself replicating the success of the hit sports comedyTed Lasso. The show comes amid Powell’s ongoing climb in mainstream popularity thanks to the back-to-back successes ofHit Man,Anyone but YouandTwisters. Additionally, the teaser trailer seems to highlight the underdog nature of the team Chad joins, much in the way AFC Richmond was transformed from a struggling team to a championship-worthy one after the arrival ofJason Sudeikis' Ted.
10 TV Shows To Watch If You Like Ted Lasso
With only a few episodes remaining in season 3 of Ted Lasso, fans of the feel-good comedy series can check out these ten TV shows streaming now.
Beyond just the underdog story, however, is the fact thatChad Powersis also based on a character that began as a sketch in the sports world. Ted Lassowas a character first created by Sudeikis for NBC Sports before being spun out into the show by him, Bill Lawrence and Brendan Hunt. Much like the Apple TV+ show,Chad Powershas also been co-developed and co-written by its star, with Powell working withLokiandHeelscreator Michael Waldron. Considering Powell’s debut in the writer’s chair withHit Manproved to be a success, his Hulu show could very well be on the same track.

A Fun Tease Of What’s To Come
Though theChad Powersteaser trailer doesn’t reveal much about the show, namely the nature of Russ' hot-headed personality, the glimpses it does share point towards it being a very fun comedy. As a fan of Powell’s work inRichard Linklater’sEverybody Wants Some!!, his return to the sports comedy genre is a welcome one for me, and the idea of him donning a disguise to continue his college football career sounds like it will be a unique new acting challenge for the Golden Globe nominee.
