Warning: Contains Spoilers For Boruto: Two Blue Vortex

When Kurama was resurrected in Himawari,Borutofandom was caught completely off guard. While she’d been an interesting side character, there was nothing in the story that suggested she’d ultimately become one of its most powerful characters – or that’s what the fandom thought. In fact, inBoruto: Naruto Next Generation, creator Masashi Kishimoto dropped a massive acknowledgment of Himawari’s potential as a host, which most readers missed.

For most of the series, Himawari Uzumaki has been nothing more than Boruto’s pesky kid sister. Despite showing signs of having amazing potential – such as that time she knocked out her father while trying to get to Boruto after he ripped the head off her doll – no one in Konoha has put her forward as having the potential to be a great shinobi. People always seem inclined towards protecting her and keeping her away from danger. However, the series' timeskip has granted the Seventh Hokage’s younger child a big powerup.

Himawari - The Quiet Girl Who Was Always Destined For Greatness

Boruto’s Sister, Himawari Has Always Had the Potential to Be Better Than Him

It surprised many fans when Jura, the leader of the sentient God Trees, took an interest in Himawari. However, an even greater shock came inBoruto: Two Blue VortexChapter #9, when Kurama, the most powerful Tailed Beast, was resurrected within her. From a plot perspective, it seemed puzzling thatHimawari would receive such immense power, given her minimal involvement in the story up until that point. This development raised questions unless there was a previously overlooked hint or explanation that revealed why Himawari was chosen for this significant role.

Daemon from Boruto

As revealed inBoruto: Two Blue VortexChapter #10, Kurama states that while there’s no precise explanation on how a Tailed Beast is reborn, its resurrection in Himawari was probably influenced by her distinct characteristics. These traits include the fact that Naruto undeniably passed some of Kurama’s chakra to Himawari, a characteristic that Boruto also shares. More importantly, Kurama hinted that Himawari’s unique combination of Namikaze, Uzumaki, and Hyuga blood likely sets her apart from other residents of Konoha.

Boruto’s ideals and fighting style prove that he has not only been influenced by Sasuke, but also by his father Naruto.

Originally sealed in Naruto,Kurama sacrifices himself inBoruto: Naruto Next GenerationChapter #55to give Naruto the power he needed to defeat Isshiki Otsutsuki. At the time, there was much discussion within Boruto fandom on whether Kurama might come back to life but few knew if this was possible or – if possible - it was even possible for it to be reborn in a person.

Kishimoto has hinted before that there’s something special about Himawari. In fact, Kurama’s remark about her unique bloodline isn’t a new concept in the story. Kishimoto has previously emphasized her distinctive DNA. In the incident where Himawai knocked out Naruto while chasing after Boruto, she activated her Byakugan and used it effectively to find Boruto.Byakugan is a dojutsuthat’s unique to the Hyuga Clan – allowing a wielder to see through walls. Moreover, knocking out Naruto at such a young age, and without training, shows that she inherited her grandfather Minato Namikaze’s physical strength.

Kurama Was Most Likely Resurrected Soon After Naruto’s Fight With Isshiki

Signs Point To Kurama Have Been With Himawari For Longer Than Appearances Suggest

InBoruto: Naruto Next GenerationsChapter #77,Kishimoto essentially revealed that Kurama had already been reborn and was now inside Himawari. In this chapter, Boruto is tasked with looking after Eida, who has just arrived in Konoha after separating from Code. At one point, Eida’s younger brother, Daemon, who can sense others' power levels, suddenly runs out of the store where Eida is shopping and scans the crowd of passersby.

Upon spotting Himawari, whom he has never met before, Daemon leaps toward her demanding to know who she is. He pretends he is going to hit her but is shocked when she shows no reaction. If she had reacted, Daemon, who has the ability to mimic the reaction of an opponent, even if they only think about it, could have known her true power level. Boruto intervenes and restrains him, explaining that Himawari isn’t an enemy but rather his little sister.

Boruto clarifies that Himawari is not a shinobi and doesn’t know how to fight. At the time, it was easy to explain the incident asDaemon sensing the potential powerthat Kishimoto suggested Himawari always had. Additionally, her lack of reaction to his strike was attributed by fans to her inexperience in combat; having never fought anyone, she wouldn’t know how to react other than to flinch, which is what she did.

Himawari Was Always The Perfect Choice To Host A Reborn Kurama

It is now clear that what Daemon was sensing was Kurama. He’d already been reborn in Himawari. That’s the “intensity” he perceived. It’s also clear that being a tailed-beast, Kurama probably perceived Daemon’s ability and overrode Himawari’s reaction to obscure the fact that he had returned. Of course, hindsight is 20/20, but there were several clues suggesting that the specific interaction between Daemon, Himawari, and Boruto hinted at Kurama being resurrected within her.

Taken together, these clues strongly suggest that Kurama hadn’t been absent from theBorutostoryline for long

First, Kishimoto is not known for providing random details in his stories; every piece of information usually serves a purpose or has a practical effect. Second, in a village filled with overpowered residents, Daemon somehow detected that Himawari’s power was so intense that he felt compelled to seek her out. Taken together, these clues strongly suggest that Kurama hadn’t been absent from theBorutostoryline for long.
