Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood Warpart 3, episode #2has the stage set for a confrontation between Ichigo and Yhwach over the Soul King. With Squad Zero now defeated, Ichigo is the only one who can hope to stand in Yhwach’s way, and there’s no telling what will happen if he’s able to get his hands on the Soul King’s power.

Episode #1 ofThousand-Year Blood Warpart 3featured some recap, going over the fight seen in the final moments of part 2’s finale before expanding on that battle some more. Senjumaru Shutara was given a brand new fight scene with Uryu, showcasing both their skills well before Uryu ultimately defeated her. Yhwach received his full power back, and was able to use his Schrift, The Almighty, for the first time, completely negating what Ichibe had done to him and decapitating Ichibe in vengeance. With that, the way was clear to ascend to the Soul King’s Palace.

When Do New Episodes of Thousand-Year Blood War Part 3 Release?

New episodes ofBleach: Thousand-Year Blood Warare debuting on Hulu in the US and Disney Plus in most areas outside the US each Saturday, at 7:30 AM Pacific Time/10:30 AM Eastern Time.Thus, Episode #2 ofThousand-Year Blood Warpart 3 can be expected to be released on Saturday, July 03, 2025, at 7:30 AM PT/10:30 AM ET.Due to releasing so close to the Japanese airing time, episodes will initially be available only in Japanese with subtitles. An English dub ofThousand-Year Blood Warpart 3 has been confirmed, but there are as yet no details about when it will begin.

What Happened in Thousand-Year Blood War Part 3 Episode #1?

Episode #1 began by reviewing some of the fight seen in the part 2 finale, then picked up from there with new content. While the other members of Yhwach’s Elite Guard seemed to be defeated,Uryu proved he wasn’t done yet, and kept fighting Senjumaru Shutara, even in her Bankai dimension. The fight hinted further at Uryu’s new abilities, and he was able to emerge victorious by swapping places with Senjumaru using his Schrift power.

Yhwach was seemingly defeated by Ichibe as well, however he managed to hold out long enough for his true power to manifest: The Almighty. Using this ability, Yhwach was able to negate what Ichibe did to him and strike back, decapitating and dismembering Ichibe. With no one left to stop him, Yhwach ascended to the Soul King’s Palace and finally laid eyes on the supreme being himself. Ichigo and his friends arrived too late to help Squad Zero, but Ichigo was able to speak Ichibe’s name and bring him back to life. Unable to fight, Ichibe entrusted the Soul King’s protection to Ichigo.

Things Aren’t Looking Good for the Soul King

Episode #2 ofThousand-Year Blood Warpart 3 is entitled “KILL THE KING.” The king in question is no doubt the Soul King, and Yhwach has come all this way just to kill him, so the situation is looking pretty grim. As the Soul King is the cornerstone of the universe as it exists, there’s no telling exactly what will happen should Yhwach succeed at killing him. The universe could start collapsing immediately, causing the Soul Society, Hueco Mundo, and the World of the Living to come crashing together in an apocalyptic scenario.

Fortunately, Ichigo and his friends have just arrived, so if they hurry there’s still a chance they could intercept Yhwach before it’s too late.Ichigo’s training with Squad Zerohas him fighting on a new level, so it’s possible he could take on Yhwach, but can anything really compete with Yhwach’s Almighty? Aside from the immediate situation at the Soul King’s Palace, the post-credits scene of episode #1 showed Head Captain Shunsui Kyoraku approaching the bound Aizen, seemingly ready to make a deal with him.

Aizen at least has some interest in the world continuing to exist, so it seems the situation may well be dire enough that letting Aizen loose is a better choice than keeping him locked up. Aizen is smart enough to know when it’s in his best interest to work together, and likely won’t go rogue or try to join up with the Quincy (who’ve already proven they have no use for him).Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood Warhas hit a turning point already, and everything to come will be changed by what happens in the next episode.
