A throwaway line inStardew Valleyhas fans concerned for some of Pelican Town’s underage denizens.Pamis a somewhat divisive character; some are amused by her, others are concerned about her, and still others resent her for her dangerous and destructive antics. One way or another, it’s undeniable that Pam is quite the character, even if her single-mindedness sometimes gets others into trouble.

But one player,burmie__, on theStardew Valleysubreddit, pointed out one occasion wherePam takes her affinity for booze a little too far. They shared a screenshotfrom the Egg Festival, an annual event that takes place on Spring 13. If the player speaks with Pam during the Festival (only in Year One), she hints at having spiked the punch bowl, saying, “Hehe…I put something nice into the punch.” The title of the original post says what we’re all thinking: “Aren’t kids drinking this?!?”

Pam Seems To Be Up To Silly Antics In Stardew Valley

Players Relate Their Experiences With Pam

Pam stands in the center, fuming, as Abigail peers at Penny, all under the angry moon.

Unfortunately, antics like these seem to be a common occurrence forPam. There are the more choreographed moments, like this one at the Egg Festival, but players likePettywise114pointed out thatPam’s self-destructive tendencies extend way beyond spiked punch. They shared an anecdote in which they unlockedthe bus to the Calico Desertand brewed their firstPale Ale, the object of a quest from Pam, on the same night. When they met Pam at the bus stop the following morning, she immediately grabbed and chugged the beer, then got behind the wheel of the bus and sped off.

Although many were understandably concerned about Pelican Town’s younger residents drinking the spiked punch, others, likeOrcalotl, acknowledgedhow happy Pam’s actionsapparently make some of the adults in town. If the player speaks toLeahduring the Egg Festival in the same year, she’ll say it tastes “unusually good.“And if they check back with her the following year, when Pam doesn’t spike the punch, she’ll say it feels like it’s missing something.

Andstill others came up with more pleasant headcanons to absolve Pamof any wrongdoing. Usercapncrediblesuggested she might’ve just added another Pam staple - Potato Juice - to fortify the punch with a little extra potassium, not to mention a nice, earthy flavor.

Either way, it’s an amusing (if concerning) little moment, and based on everyone else’s reactions at the Festival,it doesn’t seem like Pam’s addition did anyone too much harm. Maybe it even hamperedAbigail’s performance in the Egg Hunt, giving the farmer a better chance of success.

Our Take: Some Of The Stardew Characters Are Funny Without Even Trying

Stardew’s Smallest Moments Are Its Funniest

And although this is just one brief moment with Pam, accidental hilarity like this exists throughout the entirety ofStardew Valley. Usually,it arises from things ConcernedApe failed to consider in the game’s programming- for example, the way Abigail often reacts with “How’d you know I was hungry?” even when given a gem or a flower. This gave rise to a player in-joke that holds that Abigail eats rocks, eventually causing these lines to be left in the game.

The Cutest Piece Of Stardew Valley Secret Furniture Can Only Be Found On This Date

One of the biggest, and cutest, plush items in Stardew Valley can be found hidden right in town, according to one of the secret note quests.

Similarly, ConcernedApe might not have thought about the children present at the Egg Festival when writing Pam’s dialogue, and just like that, Pam became a criminal. These little, unintentional moments are among the most charming parts ofStardew Valley, bringing the people of Pelican Town to life.
