WithElden Ring’s climactic DLC,Shadow of the Erdtree, fans finally have a complete picture of all the major bosses they’ll take on in the game. Bosses fall into a handful of categories inElden Ring, from Legendary enemies all the way up to Gods. Demigod bosses are a specific boss type with a range of difficult attacks, spells, and powerful item drops, and are all tied to key story elements and NPC quests. Demigods are among the most challenging bosses in the game and defeating them requires planning and a thorough understanding of each one’s move set.

There are eight Demigod bosses in total, six from the base game and two fromShadow of the Erdtree: Godrick the Grafted, Starscourge Radahn, Morgott, the Omen King, Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy, Mohg, Lord of Blood, Malenia, Blade of Miquella, Messmer the Impaler, and Promised Consort Radahn. The sections below cover each Demigod boss’s location, recommended methods for taking them on, and the rewards and quest lines associated with them.
1Godrick The Grafted
Stormveil Castle, Limgrave
Godrick the Grafted is the first Demigod bossmost Tarnished will come across in the Lands Between, andposes the first big challenge of the game. Godrick can be found at the end of Stormveil Castle, and defeating him will cause a handful of changes, including Roderika, Rogier, Nepheli Loux, and Enia appearing in the Roundtable Hold.
Godrick’s Great Rune: Raises all attributes by five points
Weak Against
Standard, Slash, Strike, Pierce
Nepheli Loux can also be summoned for this fight, which will give players a slight advantage. Tarnished may be tempted to take on Godrick without leveling up too much, butit’s advised to advance to about level 35–40 first. Godrick has a high resistance to Holy damage, but is slightly weaker against all forms of physical damage (Strike, Slash, Pierce).
To get Nepheli Loux to appear as a summon sign for Godrick, Tarnished will first need to speak with her and exhaust her dialogue. She can be found in a room nearby, located between the Liftside Chamber and the Secluded Cell.
Because of this, physical sorceries likeRock Slingor incantations likeBestial Slingare very effective damage dealers that can be used at range. Most of his attacks can be dodged with proper timing, especially in the second phase during his fire attacks. Defeating him rewards Godrick’s Great Rune and the Remembrance of the Grafted.
2Starscourge Radahn
Redmane Castle, Caelid
Starscourge Radahn can be found at the end of Redmane Castle, where players will also find various NPCs, such as Blaidd and Alexander the Iron Fist, ready to throw down for the Radahn Festival.Defeating Radahn results in the creation of the Starfall Craterand opensaccess to Nokron, Eternal City.
Radahn’s Great Rune: Raises maximum HP, FP, and Stamina
Pierce, Scarlet Rot
It will also advance Ranni’s questline and impact various NPCs: Preceptor Seluvis, Rogier, War Counselor Iji, and more. Radahn’s fight doesn’t allow summons aside from those already on the battlefield (see above), so take advantage of their unique abilities and use them as a distraction. The massive arena can be traversed more easily using Torrent to strafe away from Radahn’s ranged attacks.
Godrick, Starscourge Radahn, Rykard, Mohg, and Malenia are technically optional bosses, though two Shardbearers must be defeated in order to advance the base game’s main story. Mohg, Promised Consort Radahn, and Messmer are all required bosses for theShadow of the ErdtreeDLC.
He is especially weak to Scarlet Rot, and if players hit him with Rot Breath, the fight becomes much easier. Locking on as he plummets in the second phase makes the attack easier to dodge. Radahn’s Rune raises maximum HP, FP, and Stamina, and his Remembrance awards either the Starscourge Greatsword or the Lion Greatbow.
3Morgott, The Omen King
Leydell, Royal Capital, Altus Plateau
Morgott is one of the required Demigod bosses the Tarnished must face before advancing the main plot ofElden Ring,and can be found at the Elden Throne in Leyndell, Royal Capital.Defeating Morgott’s boss fightwillopen up access to the Mountaintops of the Giants, where theFire Giantcan be found. A unique tool, Margit’s Shackle, allows players to stun Morgott twice during the first phase of the encounter, and players can also take advantage of the powerful summons available for this fight: Melina and the Loathsome Dung Eater.
Slash, Fire, Lightning
Morgott is weak to Slash damage especially, though he has no resistance to Fire or Lightning, meaning players can imbue items for higher damage. The second phase of this fight also involves rain, soLightning attacks are very effective.Holyproof Pickled Liveror theHaligdrake Talismancan also be used to mitigate the Holy damage Morgott deals. Morgott’s Great Rune greatly raises max HP, while his Remembrance can be exchanged for Morgott’s Cursed Sword or the Regal Omen Bairn, a unique tool that shoots ghostly projectiles.
4Rykard, Lord Of Blasphemy
Volcano Manor, Mt. Gelmir
Rykard and the God-Devouring Serpentare located at the end of Volcano Manor, and as such, defeating him will affect progress for quests associated with the area, including NPCs such asKnight Bernahl,Tanith,Patches, and more. Similar to other Demigod bosses, a unique item is available for this fight, the Serpent-Hunter Great Spear.
Rykard’s Great Rune: restores HP upon attacking enemies
Physical, Slash, Pierce, Frostbite
This spear’s unique thrusting attacks against Rykard make it absolutely essential in the encounter, and coupling it with theMimic Tear Asheswill give the Tarnished a considerable advantage. With this strategy, players will still need to be mindful of Rykard’s magma and lunging attacks, and timing Serpent-Hunter thrusts from a comfortable distance makes avoiding his bites easier.

For spell users,Borealis’s Mistdeals great Frostbite damage and is viable, but (again) only with the proper timing. Once defeated, Rykard’s Great Rune restores a set amount of HP plus a percentage for each attack on an enemy, while either Rykard’s Rancor or the Blasphemous Blade can be acquired from the Remembrance of hte Blasphemous.
5Mohg, Lord Of Blood

Found in Mohgwyn Palace, Mohg, Lord of Blood must be defeated toaccess theShadow of the Erdtreecontent, and is found by using a unique item fromWhite Mask Varré’s questline or through a portal tucked away in the Consecrated Snowfields.

Mohg’s Great Rune: Grants a blessing of blood to summoned phantoms
Slash, Strike, Pierce, Hemorrhage
Mohg’sBloodboon Ritual will seem difficult to avoid for most players going into the fight blind, but the Purifying Crystal Tear, obtained by beatingEleonora, Violet Bloody Finger, is specifically designed to counter the Blood Curse’s effect. In addition, as Mohg and Morgott are brothers, Mohg’s Shackle works in the same way as Margit’s Shackle above, tethering Mohg to the ground during the first phase.
For defense, players will want to boost Physical and Fire damage negation, while offensively, Hemorrhage and Frostbite are very effective. Once defeated, Mohg’s Great Rune gives Spirit Ashes and summoned NPCs a “blessing of blood” and is an excellent addition to PvP Bleed builds for its unique effects. Bloodboon or Mohgwyn’s Sacred Spear can be acquired with the Remembrance of the Blood Lord.
6Malenia, Blade Of Miquella
Elphael, Brace Of The Haligtree, Miquella’s Haligtree
Malenia, Blade of Miquella is a fast-slicing Rot Demigoddess with attacks such as the Waterfowl Dance, unlike anything players have encountered to this point. She’s located at the very bottom of Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree, andunderstanding her move set will take patience.

Malenia’s Great Rune: Attacks made immediately after receieving damage will partially recover HP
Fire Hemorrhage, Frostbite
However, Malenia does have a few vulnerabilities, and taking advantage of those is the only way to gain the upper hand. To prepare, load up Physical Damage Negation with items like theDragoncrest Greatshield Talisman,Boiled Crab, orGolden Vow. It’s possible to stance-break Malenia rather easily, so Spirit Ashes such asOghawill stagger and sometimes interrupt certain devastating moves.

Status effects in Elden Ring include Poison, Scarlet Rot, Blood Loss, Frostbite, Sleep, Madness, and Death Blight, and each was expanded in SOTE.
Another strategy involves status effect buffing/debuffing with Frostbite and Fire damage, as well as inflicting as much Hemorrhage as possible to counter her health regeneration. Overall,Malenia will be a true test of the Tarnished’s will, and with her Remembrance of the Rot Goddess, players can choose between the Hand of Malenia and the Scarlet Aeonia.
7Messmer The Impaler

Messmer the Impaler is a new Demigod boss introduced inSOTEand can be found in the Shadow Keep’s Specimen Storehouse. He must be defeated in order to advance the DLC story and obtain Messmer’s Kindling,a key item that “burn the sealing tree said to be found at the old Rauh ruins.“If players have followed Hornsent and Jolan’s questlines, they will be available to summon inside the arena.
Slash: Frostbite, Holy (second phase)
Fire Damage Negation is recommended in some form, as well as taking him on at close range due to his long-range spear and flame-based attacks.One of Messmer’s key moves to avoid involveshis right hand glowing with red fire, and players will want to roll backwards away from him to avoid a most certain death.
If players can manage to inflict Frostbite on Messmer, it will significantly increase the damage dealt by his attacks. The Remembrance of the Impaler can be exchanged for either the Spear of the Impaler or Messmer’s Orb, both of which are among the most powerful of their type.
8Promised Consort Radahn

This version of Demigod Radahn is Consort to Miquella, the Empyrean seeking Godhood through the Gate of Divinity in Enir-Ilim, where players will find the culminating boss ofShadow of the Erdtree. Be prepared for a tough encounter, acquire as many Scadutree Blessings as possible (minimum 18), and stock up onGolden VowsandBoiled Crab.
Remembrance of a God and a Lord:
Holy (first phase), Scarlet Rot (first phase), Pierce (second phase)
This boss utilizes both Bloodflame and Gravity spells, has resistance to all status effects, and deals significant Holy damagein the second phase. Summoning Ansbach and Thiollier can help distract some of Radahn’s attacks away from the player.

Radahn returns as the final boss of Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, but this general restored to their prime may be the hardest foe to beat.
