New Limited Series Takes All the Right Cues from the Show
Peacemaker practically became a household name overnight thanks to his appearance in the 2021 film,The Suicide Squad, before spinning off into his own self-titled series. Portrayed by John Cena, James Gunn’s incarnation kept the character’s dedication to achieving peace by any means necessary, but also added facets to his character, making him an incredibly complex and flawed character. But Christopher Smith wasn’t just in the spotlight in films and television. He got his own Black Label comic,Peacemaker Tries Hard!, and later played a supporting antagonistic role in the DC Comics 2024 event,Absolute Power.
It should be pointed out that this story isnotmeant to serve as a bridge betweenPeacemaker’sfirst and upcoming second season, but it is inspired by the Max series and Gunn does serve as a story consultant for this double feature limited series and, while there’s no dialogue in these preview pages, it does seem to haveall the comedy and violence fans have come to expect from Peacemaker and his buddies. It might not be canon, but it looks like something that’ll satisfy fans until season 2 drops.

Aside from having a killer creative team attached to it, James Gunn consulted on the story, so it’s undoubtedly going to match the energy the audience has come to expect from his take on Peacemaker, Vigilante, and Eagly.
