Scott Snyder is Excited to Write Bane in Absolute Batman

Absolute Bane Could Be a Powerful Challenge to the Dark Knight

The Absolute Universe is the latest addition to the DC multiverse and was created after Darkseid’s physical form was destroyed, sending his energy out into the ether, where it imprinted on a young universe. This new world was drastically different from the Prime DC Universe, and reflected the oppressive ideals and values of Darkseid. In this world, hope was fleeting and the standard DC heroes' histories were rewritten. In Batman’s case, he grew up in an even worse version of Gotham and lacked the wealth of the Prime Wayne family, forcing him to be a more creative Dark Knight.

Fans haven’t seen much of Batman’s usual rogues' gallery, at least, not as their villainous alter egos (many of them are friends with the Absolute Bruce). But Bane would be a great fit for the Absolute Universe. This is a world that values hardship and strife, the same ideals that forged Bane in the pits of Santa Prisca. If he’s just as good a tactician as his Prime Universe counterpart, an Absolute Bane could make this new Batman’s life hell. Given the nature of Darkseid’s world,a new Bane could break Batman’s spirit in ways the original could only dream.

Absolute Bane Should Appear Eventually, Just Not Yet

Absolute Batman Should Showcase Just How Brilliant Bane Is

Bane is a solid villain, but he’s always worked best as a long-term planner.Absolute Batmanis only a few issues in, so there’s no need to show this potential new Bane just yet. The Absolute Universe has emphasized the core elements of certain characters, and for Bane, it would work best to showcase his Machiavellian nature. Have him working in the shadows, masterminding a game that really pushes Batman in ways that criminals haven’t, before the two meet in an eventual match-up.

There are a lot of villains in Batman’s mythos and Snyder is smart enough to know not to rush things. If he’s excited about using Bane, there’s no doubt fans will eventually see an Absolute spin on him. Hopefully, when Bane finally appears, he’ll be a foe that truly embodies the challenging nature of the Absolute Universe, and he’ll take onBatmanin a battle that will leave fans stunned.
