Warning: Spoilers for Absolute Batman #1One of the most iconic places in superhero comics has always been the Batcave, the lair of the legendaryBatman. But the Absolute Universe has managed a major hideout twist, as instead of deep below the ground, Batman’s cave is high above the clouds, and the idea may have come from Batman’s greatest enemies.

The surprising newlocation of the Batcavewas revealed inAbsolute Batman#1 by Scott Snyder and Nick Dragotta. In this book, Bruce doesn’t hide deep underground; instead, his “Batcave” towers over Gotham City. As a city engineer, Bruce knows which buildings are in use and which aren’t, since he built them.

This knowledge allows Bruce to literally look over the city below him, but the more interesting aspect is that this skyscraper “cave” isn’t a new idea. It seems that this idea was so good, Snyder simply had toreuse it forAbsolute Batman.

Absolute Batman’s New Headquarters Is Eerily Similar to the Court Of Owls'

Absolute Batman#1 by Scott Snyder, Nick Dragotta, Frank Martin, and Clayton Cowles

Created by Snyder and Greg Capullo for the New 52,the Court of Owlsare some of the most secretive villains in Gotham City. When they first debuted, most characters didn’t even believe that they existed, Batman included. They managed this secrecy by using the hidden floors in Wayne Enterprise buildings. The Court occupied a secret floor that wasn’t technically part of the building. It was a brilliant way to hide in plain sight, and the Court used similar hideouts all over Gotham. Absolute Batman has a similar mindset, as his new version of the Batcave uses almost the exact same idea, which isn’t too surprising.

Fans won’t believe what Bruce Wayne has to do to get Batman ready in the streets of Gotham from DC Comics' brand new Absolute Universe.

The Court of Owls storyline and this newAbsolute Batman#1 are both written by Snyder. Sometimes ideas are simply too good to use once, and considering how the Absolute Universe is just another version of the DC Universe, it makes sense thatideas that have been seen before would pop up again. Sometimes things just repeat, such as how each universe almost always has a Batman or a Bruce Wayne. Thankfully, instead of the Court of Owls having the brilliant idea of putting their bases in abandoned buildings, it was Bruce Wayne who thought of it this time.

Batman Is Stealing One of the Court of Owls' Best Ideas

The New Batcave Looks Over All of Gotham

One of the best things about Batman is his ability to adapt. It’s extremely difficult to take him by surprise more than once. Without the expansive Wayne Manor, Bruce needed somewhere to act as his Batcave. Lacking an actual physical cave, he adapted and used what he had. As a city engineer, he knows what buildings are built for who and which ones are in use, allowing him to set up a Batcave in a skyscraper overlooking Gotham. He could hypothetically even move his Batcave from building to building as necessary, which makes this one ofBatman’sbest Batcaves so far.
