Warning! SPOILERS For 1923 Season 2, Episode 4, “Journey The Rivers Of Iron"One fan theory circulating1923season 2 isn’t supported by hard evidence in Taylor Sheridan’s story, but it’s infectious and intriguing nonetheless. It’s been an ominous chapter for the Dutton family as they navigate financial hardships amid a bitter winter while preparing to fight a war against Banner Creighton (Jerome Flynn) andDonald Whitfield (Timothy Dalton). As Jacob (Harrison Ford) and Cara Dutton (Helen Mirren) hold down the fort at the Yellowstone ranch with Jack (Darren Mann) and his wife, Elizabeth (Michelle Randolph), Spencer Dutton (Brandon Sklenar) makes a harrowing journey home to join the fight.

However, one of the most compelling journeys in1923season 2 is the one thatAlexandra of Sussexmakes to reunite with her husband, Spencer, who she married in international waters just before the pair separated as1923season 1 ended. Forcibly removed from her husband after he killed the Earl of Sussex (Rafe Soule), Alex’s former fiancé, the would-be countess makes a solo voyage across the sea and through America to get to theYellowstone Dutton Ranch. Fascinatingly, fans have a theory about how it will go down regarding Alex’s arrival in Montana, and it’s one I have considered myself.

1923 Fans Believe Alex Will Beat Spencer To Montana

Taylor Sheridan’s Story Hasn’t Supported The Theory Outwardly

Ahead of1923season 2’s ending, some fans are predicting thatAlex Dutton will arrive at the ranch before her husband. What’s striking about this prediction is that Taylor Sheridan has provided little evidence to back this claim up in the1923season 2 story, and yet, I’ve seen many people arrive at the same conclusion. Alex is indeed on a train to Billings while her husband is making the journey by foot, but Spencer’s luck could change on a dime, and several things could delay Alex’s completing the final leg of her trip from Billings to Bozeman.

What inspires me is that so many1923fans still believe she will make it to Montana, despite1923foreshadowing a deadly story for Alex, believing, even, that she could beat Spencer.

Alex Dutton from 1923

Amazingly, fans are still posting online that Mrs. Dutton could arrive first. Aside from getting beaten and robbed in the Grand Central Terminal bathroom in1923season 2, episode 4,Alex’s journey has been anything but swift. After being rejected by Britain’s royal family and fleeing London, Alex travels by the most affordable means possible, causing her to brave disheartening circumstances in the name of love. Still, what inspires me is that so many1923fans still believe she will make it to Montana, despite1923foreshadowing a deadly story for Alex, believing, even, that she could beat Spencer.

What Alex Arriving At Yellowstone First Means For 1923 Season 2’s Ending

Alex Arriving First Would Drastically Impact 1923 Season 2’s Conclusion

I think the fan theory about howAlex Dutton’s journeywill end has emerged because it makes for a great story. If she arrives at the ranch first,Alex will have to explain to the Dutton family that she is married to Spencer, and she made it from London, England, to be with him. Alex’s English accent will surely throw the Dutton family for a loop, although they originally hail from Europe themselves. My favorite part about this theory, supported by some people I watch the show with, is the idea of Alex explaining herself to her new clan.

“He Took Everything”: Alex Dutton’s Heartbreaking Comment May Foreshadow Her 1923 Season 2 Tragedy

Alexandra Dutton may have a heartbreaking tragedy foreshadowed in 1923 season 2, episode 4, hence why she says, “He took everything.”

The other element that makes the fan theory fun to entertain is the prospect of Spencer arriving at the ranch after Alex has. I can picture Spencer greeting1923charactersJacob, Cara, Jack, and Elizabeth before Alex reveals that she, too, is there to greet her husband. It would be a beautiful reunion for the lovers who haven’t spent any time since their whirlwind romance in season 1. If she is still carrying her baby,Alex can reveal to Spencer he’s a father, making for a season finale-worthy homecoming for the veteran who hasn’t been home since the war.

How Alex Can Prove She’s Spencer’s Wife To The Duttons

Alex Carries Cara’s Letters To Spencer

If she arrives at the Yellowstone ranch first, Alex may have to prove herself to the rest of Spencer’s family. While Spencer’s wife has surely learned enough about her partner to prove to his kin that she is indeed familiar with Cara’s nephew, there’s a concrete way that Alexandra can prove herself to the familyif she arrives prematurely. As we saw in1923season 2, episode 4, as she desperately packs her leather travel bag with her belongings on the bathroom floor, Alex still holds Spencer’s letters from Cara, which they read together on the shore in Tanganyika, Africa.

1923 Season 2 Episode 4 Proves Alexandra & Spencer Dutton Must Run The Yellowstone Ranch

A detail in 1923 season 2, episode 4 foreshadows that Alex and Spencer Dutton are the best pair to run the Yellowstone Ranch.

Even after she is robbed at Grand Central, Alexandra maintains her clutch on Spencer’s precious artifact, which can be the physical evidence needed to quickly verify Alex’s story. Contrasting what happened at Ellis Island, it would be a beautiful experience to watch Cara and the rest of Spencer’s family believe and accept Alex. Of course, Alexandra will have to make it from Bozeman first. I imagine that if Alex makes it there, the Dutton family is a well-known enough bunch that someone should know to take Alex to the ranch. Again, that’s if the infectiously hopeful1923theory comes true.
