Severanceseason 2 is ending, and there are still many plot points that need to be wrapped up before this show can reach a satisfying conclusion. Episode 9 ended withMark S. waking up alongside Ms. Cobel in a Lumon property, setting up a huge conflict in the upcoming finale. For this entire season, Mark has been trying to break through the severance chip and learn the exact location of his wife Gemma - and Cobel is the one with all the answers.

The pieces are clearly in place for an explosive finale this week, but exactly how these fireworks will be set off is still unclear. While it’s unlikely that theApple TV+ showwill answer all the questions in the space of just one hour (such aswhat Lumon is really doing on the Severed Floor), certain things simply must be addressed.Online speculation for this season ofSeverancehas been immense, and many audiences believe they’ve already cracked the code for what the show has in store. But if there’s one thingSeverancehas proven in the past, it’s that we have no idea.

8Dylan Will Betray Mark’s Plans To Milchick

The Innie’s Loyalties Have Been Gradually Shifting

ThroughoutSeveranceseason 2, Dylan’s subplot has been one of the most interesting to watch. He’s gone from the most loyal member of Macro Data Refinement, who risked his life to ensure the Overtime Contingency worked, to the one who’s now harboring the biggest secret: his visits with his outie’s wife. This has caused a very subtle rift between Dylan and the rest of his coworkers, and it could prove fatal in the series’ final moments.

Severance S2 Ep 9: Milchick’s “Devour Feculence” Moment While Confronting Drummond Broken Down By Star

Tramell Tillman addresses Mr. Milchick’s boldest Severance moment in season 2, episode 9, as he defiantly tells a top Lumon executive to “eat s–t.”

When it was first revealed that Dylan would be granted access to the visitation room, Milchick kindly requested that he keep it quiet “to avoid resentment”from his fellow workers. This unspoken agreement between Dylan and Milchick could be the thing that ultimately ruins Mark’s rescue attempt, as Dylan knows that Milchick is the only person who can truly stop him from seeing his wife. And since Milchick foiled their plans last time,Dylan will be much less likely to stand against him now.

7Ms. Huang Is The Outies’ Way Into The Severed Floor

The Side-Character Could Have Ulterior Motives

One ofthe biggest mysteries inSeveranceseason 2so far has been the inclusion of Ms. Huang, a minor character who doesn’t seem that important to the story on the surface. In the few scenes that she appears in,she’s usually there to complement Milchick’s intimidating management stylewith her own calm demeanor. However, Ms. Huang may have some ulterior motives that haven’t yet been revealed to the audience - and that’s why she’s been so present throughout the season.

With Ms. Huang now absent from the Severed Floor following her dismissal in episode 9,she has both the motive and the means to assist Mark, Devon, and Cobelin their quest to retrieve Gemma. She could provide them with the knowledge or equipment they might need to break into Lumon; Milchick’s lack of authority and growing frustration with the innies may have finally caused her to see the truth behind the company’s facade.

6Ms. Cobel Sacrifices Herself To Bring Down Lumon

The Ex-Manager Has Plenty Of Reasons To Hate The Company

Assuming that both Irving and Dylan are safe and sound following the events of episode 9, then season 2 ofSeverancehasn’t included too many major deaths or shock twists until this point. The show certainly seems to be teasing Gemma’s deathupon the completion of Cold Harbor, but this could be a genius misdirect that simply distracts audiences from the truth of the matter: Cobel is going to die helping Mark and Devon break into Lumon.

With the amount of information that she knows about Cold Harbor, it’s hard to imagine that she’ll make it to the next season.

Following themassive reveals about Ms. Cobel in episode 8, it makes sense that Lumon’s ex-manager would feel the need to take revenge on the company for stealing her designs and taking all the credit. She was pushed around by Lumon and bullied into silence, and Cobel has finally reached her breaking point. With the amount of information that she knows about Cold Harbor, it’s hard to imagine that she’ll make it to the next season – for narrative reasons if nothing else.

Mark’s Brother-In-Law Could Have A Dark Secret

One of the most far-reaching theories aboutSeverance’s upcoming finale is that Ricken will be revealed as an undercover Lumon agent, watching over Mark while he’s away from the office. Lumon has already gone to similar lengths to keep Mark under control by forcing Cobel to keep tabs on him, so it’s not that far-fetched to assume that Ricken could be doing the same thing. He’s arguably the closest friend Mark has outside of his own family, which gives him a level of power and insight that Lumon would need.

While there’s little evidence for this theory (beyond Ricken’s comedic obliviousness and the many goat decorations in his home), it would certainly prove just how far Lumon is willing to go to get Cold Harbor finished. The revelation would also surely motivate Devon to shun Lumon for good, embracing Mark’s attempts at reintegration so he can burn them down from the inside.

4Mark Will Fully Reintegrate

The Reintegration Storyline Needs A Payoff

It’s still not exactly clearhow reintegration works inSeverance, but it’s obvious that Mark is coming close to completing the process. We’ve seen both his innie and outie notice the shifts in reality, andhe’s even caught a glimpse of Gemma during one of his more intense episodes. With Cobel’s help, it’s hard to imagine that Mark’s reintegration would fail now - if only because he’s the main character and it needs to happen to push the story forward.

Mark’s reintegration would also open the door for some major twists in the episode’s final moments, as he would finally have access to both his innie and outie memories. His relationship with Helly would be changed forever, as his outie would recognize her as the woman who faked his wife’s death while his innie would still be in love with her. It’s a very complex issue, and it perfectly sets the stage forSeveranceseason 3.

3Milchick Joins MDR’s Rebellion

The New Manager Has Finally Turned His Back On Lumon

One of the most unpredictable aspects ofSeveranceat this point is exactly what’s going on with Seth Milchick. Throughout season 1, he was an unflinchingly loyal servant of Lumon who admired Ms. Cobel and constantly followed her orders to the letter. But in recent episodes,he’s found himself underappreciated by the boardand even lost his temper at Mr. Drummond after his efforts on the Severed Floor went unnoticed.

Whether Milchick sticks with Lumon or shifts his loyalties to Mark and Cobel is the biggest question ofSeverance’s upcoming finale, and the decision that he makes will change everything about the show’s dynamics. His assistance would be invaluable to Mark in retrieving Gemma, but it’s going to take another major blow to his ego before he’s fully ready to turn his back on the company.

2Helly Is Pregnant With Mark’s Baby

A Severed Pregnancy Would Seriously Complicate Things

The idea thatHelly is secretly pregnant inSeveranceis probably the leading fan theory at this point, and there’s plenty of evidence to suggest it’s right. Not only has Mark slept with Helly twice (once as Helena), butthere’s also been plenty of baby imagery throughout the showthat hints towards a surprise pregnancy. Whether that’s the creepy babies in the intro sequence or the fact that Lumon employees were present at Gemma’s fertility clinic, the evidence is too strong to ignore.

The idea of Helly being pregnant with Mark’s baby (and potentially Helena’s, not even her own) is such a frightening concept that would really complicate matters for the show’s love triangle.

If this theory proves true,Severanceseason 3 could easily be the show’s most emotionally powerful yet. The idea of Helly being pregnant with Mark’s baby (and potentially Helena’s, not even her own) is such a frightening concept that would really complicate matters for the show’s love triangle. If Mark somehow manages to prevent Cold Harbor and save Gemma from the Testing Floor, he’ll also have to explain to his wife how his innie impregnated the woman who faked her death.

1Mark’s Innie Will Have To Choose Between Helly & Gemma

Mark S. Must Face The Ultimate Choice

The idea of love triangles is something thatSeveranceseason 2 has really taken in its stride, playing with the idea of each character having two identities that could be in love with different people. Mark’s innie loves Helly, Mark’s outie loves Gemma, Helena loves Mark’s outie - it’s enough to need a notepad to keep track of.

Why Jame Eagan Wants Helena To Eat Raw Eggs In Severance Season 2 Episode 9

Another strange scene between Jame Eagan and Helena Eagan happens in Severance season 2, episode 9, centering around how the latter eats her eggs.

But it also perfectly sets the stage for an incredible cliffhanger ending once Mark gets to the Testing Floor: will he save Gemma, knowing that his outie will probably never return and he’ll never see Helly again, or will he leave her there to pursue his love for Helly instead? It’s a fascinating possibility going intoSeveranceseason 2’s final episode, and it will be even more emotionally distressing if Mark has fully reintegrated by this point and both minds are fighting in one body.
