AsSister Wivesseason 19continues, Kody and his only remaining wife Robyn Brown have become two of the most difficult people on reality TV. As Kody’s original group of wives, Meri Brown, Janelle Brown, and Christine Brown, made independent decisions to leave him and the family behind, Kody was left with his family crumbling and no one but himself to blame for the wreckage. Throughout the most recent seasons of the series,Kody’s exes have each shared their truth with the family patriarchand have been met with somewhat different reactions to their grievances, even the most minor.

ThroughoutSister Wiveshistory, Kody’s relationships with his original wives have vastly differed from those he shares with Robyn. WhileKody wasn’t able to own up to thisin the past, in recent years he’s been clear that he’s romantically in love with Robyn, and his relationships with Christine, Janelle, and Meri were all a bit more perfunctory than they were about romantic love. Kody has made it clear that he chose to enter into his original marriages out of necessity and pressure rather than out of genuine love, butwhen he met Robyn, he understood what romantic love was.
With his actions so profoundly backward,Kody has faced major backlashas he’s moved through the most recent season ofSister Wives. While Kody is typically someone who finds himself at odds with the viewers of the show, he’s typically not as angry about the shade he receives. Though he doesn’t enjoy it, Kody appears to understand that as he moves through his time on the series, he can’t control how people see him. Even so,Kody’s most recent plays to become the victim onSister Wiveshave made it clear that he’s looking for understanding rather than vitriol.
8Kody’s Attempting To Explain His Point Of View
He’s Trying To Rationalize His Behavior
As Kody has moved to the most recent season ofSister Wives, he’s rationalized his behavior and shared that he understands where he’s gone wrong in the past. WhileKody has often tried to make his poor behavior seem less aggressive or intense, he has rarely actually shown remorse for the things that he has done. Kody has often shared that he understands how others may see his point of you, but he doesn’t see it that way. Instead of owning up to the mistakes he’s made,Kody has tried to prove he has justificationor reasoning behind his actions.
Despite knowing that others have been openly against the way that Kody has behaved for years, theSister Wivespatriarch has been working hard to verify that he has people on his side. In attempting to rationalize his behavior, Kody wants to be sure that his point of view is documented. He has been trying to win overSister Wivesviewers, or at least make himself seem less irrational throughout the current season.

He’s Trying To Push Robyn To Take The Fall
While Kody has been trying to rationalize his behavior in any way he can, he’s also beenthrowing his only remaining wife Robynunder the bus.Kody has been working hard to ensure thatSister Wivesviewers also know that Robyn is at faultfor some of the more difficult things it appears Kody has done or said. He continually brings Robyn into his issues, despite knowing that viewers already have their own grievances with his current wife.
With Kody consistently trying to bring Robyn into his issues, theSister Wivespatriarch has also proven that he can’t be trusted to not put himself first. While Kody has put Robyn ahead of his other wives for years, he’s never put anyone above himself.Kody’s consistent push for Robyn to seem like a bigger villain than he is has been subtle, but he’s been trying to do it under the radar.
6Kody’s Pretending He Would Pursue Relationships With His Kids
He’s Trying To Seem Like A Good Dad
During recent episodes ofSister Wives, Kody has been pretending that he would pursue a relationship with his children under some specific parameters and stipulations surrounding it. Throughout the last several years, many of Kody’s children from his original three wives have distanced themselves from the family patriarch. While this may be a public distancing, Kody doesn’t appear to have private relationships with most of his older children. This may just be to protect the family, but many of the older kids have spoken up about the wayKody has treated them over the yearsin a negative light.
In recent episodes of the series, Kody has been open to reconciliation with his older kids, but at a high cost for them. Kody has shared that though he knows he’s made mistakes as well, his older children would have to come to him and apologize in order to kickstart their relationship. Kody is pretending like he would pursue a relationship with his older kids, but in reality, whathe’s looking for is an apology and the ability to wipe the slate clean without taking any accountabilityfor his poor actions in the past.
5Kody’s Acting Like He’d Fix Things With Janelle
He’s Trying To Make Janelle Seem Vindictive
Each of Kody’s original relationships has had its own issues throughout the years, but his relationship with Janelle was somewhat shocking to see come to a close.Kody and Janelle’s connection seemed sincere, and Janelle appeared to enjoy the independence that came with having a husband who had four wives.Sister Wivesstar Janelle seemed to be confident enough in herself, and in her family that she didn’t feel the need for constant reassurance from Kody, but she did understand that she was getting a lot less than someone like Robyn in the family.
Despite knowing that they had major issues in their relationship, Kody has been open about the fact that he thought reconciliation with Janelle was imminent. Despite Janelle consistently saying that she no longer wanted to be married to Kody or anyone again, the family patriarch has been open about the fact that he wants to get back together with her. Despite having heard her wishes, and understanding that his relationship with Janelle had to come to an end,Kody tried to make himself look good by seeming like a partner who wanted to get back together.
4Kody’s Claiming He’s Become More Self-Aware
He’s Trying To Pathologize His Feelings
Throughout the most recent episodes ofSister Wives,Kody has been trying to make it seem like he understands his feelings a lot more than he actually does. Without admitting that, he’s angry, betrayed, or feeling any sort of negative emotions surrounding his former wives, Kody has been clear that he is not having an easy time with his divorces or his current state of life. While he hasn’t admitted to his difficult emotions, Kody has claimed to become more self-aware in the last several seasons of the series.
Even thoughKody hasn’t actually become more self-aware, he has faced a lot of criticism surrounding his selfish nature and difficulty in relating to others onSister Wives. Knowing that Kody has had a lot of trouble with the viewers ofSister Wivesrelating to him, he has tried to make himself seem more empathetic and more self-aware in the most recent seasons.Kody has been trying to trick viewers and pathologize his feelings in order to gain their understandingand empathy.
3Kody’s Trying To Be Friendlier With Meri
He’s Trying To Secure Meri’s Loyalty
AsKody has moved through this recent seasonof difficulty in his life, he’s also been clear that he wants to make amends for the things he’s done wrong or the people he’s hurt. Knowing full well thatKody has had a hard time moving through his relationship with his ex-wife Meribecause of the lingering hurt from her years-old catfishing scandal, Kody has been more dedicated to trying to maintain a friendship with his ex-wife than ever. Kody’s difficulties with Meri weren’t all one-sided, but the way he chose to handle their relationship was difficult for fans to grasp.
Kody spent the majority of the last few seasons, blaming Meri and dragging her along before she finally decided to end their marriage during the end ofSister Wivesseason 18. Knowing that Meri has done everything she can to fix the relationship and stillseeing Kody now try to fall back into a friendship with her has been tough. It’s clear that Meri wants to give her loyalty to Kody, but knowing that he knows that and knows how to leverage it is dangerous.
2Kody’s Planning To Show Viewers He’s Emotionally Intelligent
He’s Trying To Make Himself Look Better
Kody has been on reality TV for long enough to know that a lot of the reasons viewers struggle with him are genuine, but have been taken out of context and edited to make him look worse than he probably is. FindingKody in moments of anger or selfishnesshasn’t been difficult, but those are the moments thatSister Wivesviewers tend to know about more than others. Throughout the most recent season ofSister Wives,Kody has been trying to game the systembecause of these badly edited moments.
Working hard to make himself look as intelligent as possible, Kody has been doing his best to appear emotionally intelligent as well. Kody has done a lot of work to share his faux-feelings and try to get viewers to relate to his sense of betrayal, rather than apologizing for anything he’s done in the past. Instead of trying to come off as apologetic,Kody’s been trying to appeal to viewers' emotional sides.
1Kody’s Feigning Acceptance Of David & Christine
He’s Trying To Act Like He’s Moved On
Within the last two seasons ofSister Wives, Christine has found herself in a new relationship that has made her tremendously happy.Christine’s marriage to David Woolleyhas become one of the major plot points of the most recent seasons, including a two-hour wedding special that aired both last year and in the current season. Christine’s relationship with Kody, in contrast, hasbecome mostly nonexistent as they move through this current season of their lives, which hasn’t sat well with the Brown family patriarch.
Kody’s non-existent relationship with Christine hasn’t stopped him fromoverstating that he accepts Christine and her new husbandwhen they do have to spend time together. While it’s clear that Kody doesn’t actually like David and still feels stung by Christine’s betrayal, he’s been open about the fact that he’s happy for his ex-wife in her new relationship. TheSister Wivespatriarch has been trying to make it clear he’s moved on, even if he actually has yet to do so.
