17 years afterAhsoka Tano’s debut inStar Wars: The Clone Wars, it’s become clear thatOmegainStar Wars: The Bad Batchhas taken a very similar journey to Ahsoka’s own. Omega, the youngest member ofClone Force 99, has become a beloved member ofThe Bad Batch’s cast of characters, acting very much as the heart of the show. The journey every character takes, from Hunter to Crosshair, is wholly indebted to Omega’s heart transforming their own.
Sadly, the importance of Omega wasn’t seen right away, and the character faced some harsh criticism during the course ofThe Bad Batchseason 1. This, however, was not the first time a character like hers was met with such disdain following her introduction. The Clone Warsexperienced something similar with someone who has since been regarded as one ofStar Wars’best charactersof all time, a list that Omega is arguably primed to join as well.

Omega & Ahsoka Both Faced Some Serious Hate After Their Debuts
They Were Written Off As Nothing More Than Annoying Kids
Children have always had it hard inStar Wars, but Ahsoka was easily the most extreme example of this - and Omega experienced it as well. Ahsoka had a turbulent reception after her 2008 debut in theStar Wars: The Clone Warsmovie, and even the TV show’s first two seasons. ThePadawan of Anakin Skywalkerwas even considered by some fans to be a disturbance to Anakin’s own legacy and that of the prequel era as a whole, and many fans reduced her to nothing more than a whiny teenager.
Star Wars Secretly Set Up The Bad Batch’s Omega Arc 10 Years Before It Happened
One subtle detail in Star Wars: The Clone Wars might have foreshadowed Omega, who was a lead character in The Bad Batch a decade later.
Omega faced something very similar with her debut inThe Bad Batchin 2021. As a child who had never been off theplanet Kaminobefore, Omega was understandably curious about the galaxy, and was also eager to help her brothers in their various missions. To many fans, however, this was seen as her unnecessarily causing constant problems, andshe was considered nothing more than an annoying child with no proper regard for danger. Thankfully, however, these stigmas around Ahsoka and Omega didn’t last.

Like Ahsoka, Omega Has Now Become A Beloved Character & Hero
She Proved Her Strength (Even Though She Didn’t Have To)
As a character who’s been around for nearly two decades now, it’s easy to see how Ahsoka has evolved and become one of the franchise’s most beloved heroes, but Omega’s rise has been more subtle, having taken place over the course of four years. Just as the opinions on Ahsoka changed with the growth of her character, so did the opinions on Omega. ByThe Bad Batchseason 2, Omega had proven that she was so much more than the “annoying child” many people had made her out to be.
It was inThe Bad Batchseason 2 premiere that her growth became so evident, andOmega’s character only continued to develop and become more complex in the most beautiful wayfrom there. By season 3, Omega’s own leadership nearly superseded Hunter’s own, and it wasn’t surprising to see her calling the shots - all while staying true to who she was and what she believed in. Omega even volunteered to send herself back to a seemingly impenetrable Imperial prison just to save both Pabu and the clones still trapped on Tantiss.

Omega’s own leadership nearly superseded Hunter’s own, and it wasn’t surprising to see her calling the shots.
Now, afterThe Bad Batchhas come to an end, it’s clear that fans have newfound respect for Omega, similar to how the tide changed with Ahsoka inThe Clone Wars. Omega has become so beloved that in fan-run polls, such as one run bytechispookieon Twitter/X, Omega has managed to beat out fan-favorite characters like Tech himself.Omega, like Ahsoka, should have been allowed to be a child inStar Wars, but their growth has certainly warranted the proper respectand love that their characters truly deserve.

Omega Is Now One Of The Most Important Rebel Heroes
I Have No Doubt That We’ll See Her Again
This newfound love and respect for Omega’s character isn’t for nothing. The Bad Batchseason 3’s endingsaw Omega leave Pabu to become a pilot for theRebel Alliance, using the skills she learned from Tech prior to his tragic death inThe Bad Batchseason 2 to make the galaxy a better place. Given the fact thatOmega was trained by a squad of elite clone commandos, I have no doubt that she became an absolutely invaluable Rebel hero.
I Think I’ve Figured Out How Star Wars Can Bring The Bad Batch Back
Although The Bad Batch animated series came to an end in 2024, I think I’ve found a way for Clone Force 99’s story to continue on in Star Wars.
Like Ahsoka, who has become such an in-demand and revered character, Omega has also become a character that fans are eager to see again. I can easily see a future where Omega carries on the Bad Batch’s legacy and continues to be the hero we saw her grow into during the course ofThe Bad Batch. There’s absolutely no doubt now that Omega isn’t only one of the best characters inThe Bad Batch, but also one of the best the franchise has introduced in recent years - and I can’t wait to see her grow even more.
