Difficult bosses are a dime a dozen inBlack Myth: Wukong, but there’s a huge difference between the average challenging boss and the ones that are true punishers. It’s easy to grind to a halt for a bit when coming up against a true doozy in the game, and there’s no shame in having to step back and re-evaluate before mastering a fight. The path to glory is a slow and steady one, and by the time the game reaches the final boss, dodging brutal attacks will come as second nature.
AlthoughBlack Myth: Wukonghas some memorable fights early on, many of the hardest unsurprisingly appear in later parts of the story.A few of the most challengingBlack Myth: Wukongbosses aren’t actually necessary to beatto complete the game, but overcoming additional challenges can have unique perks along with the general sense of accomplishment.

How Hard Is Black Myth: Wukong? Difficulty Explained
Black Myth: Wukong’s difficulty can seem intimidating, but there’s more to the level of challenge in the action game than a focus on punishment.
10The Yellow Wind Sage Demands Mastery
Chapter Two has some challenging bosses like the Tiger Vanguard, but the final chapter boss of the Yellow Wind Sage definitely takes the cake. This lumbering rodent whocarries a Buddha headhits hard, and when he sets down the Buddha head, he gains a surprising agility that pairs those strong attacks with constant movement all around the map. Toss in a whirling dust storm, and it can be a nightmare.
There are a couple of different ways to reach the Yellow Wind Sage, so there’s often more to explore in Chapter Two before taking him on at first sight. Finding the secret content in the chapter also helps, but in any scenario, the Yellow Wind Sage is one of the biggest skill checks in the first several chaptersofBlack Myth: Wukong.

How To Beat Yellow Wind Sage Boss In Black Myth: Wukong
To defeat the final boss of Chapter 2, Yellow Wind Sage, players must unlock the area to find him, and do lots of combat preparation to succeed.
9Yellowbrow Has To Be Learned
Yellowbrow is a fight more based on knowledge than anything else, but figuring out how best to approach it can be rough. With a tendency to turn into gold at the most annoying intervals, the fight can seriously drag out, making repeated attempts frustrating. What’s worse is that the checkpoint right before the fight isn’t a Keeper’s Shrine, making changing the Destined One’s build or crafting new medicines inconvenient.
The main keys to make the Yellowbrow fight way easier are to skip using theImmobilizespell and focusing on charged heavy attacks, which can break him out of his golden form. Earlier in Chapter Three, grabbing theSpell Binder, which locks the Destined One out of using magic but boosts stats, can also be a help.

The Whiteclad Noble might not have the complex tools for punishment that some later bosses inBlack Myth: Wukongdo, but his placement makes him a notable contender as one of the game’s biggest challenges. Appearing in Chapter One, he’s the first boss that’s likely to stump some players. Guangmou, who appears right before him, can also be a trial, butthe Whiteclad Noble definitely steps it up a notch.
When first entering the fray, the Whiteclad Noble seems fairly easy, but that’s before he reveals his second phase. Surviving this gauntlet forces players to get serious about the game’s mechanics and make every sip of their healing gourds count. It’s nothing that can’t be overcome, but it’s one of the first signs thatBlack Myth: Wukongisn’t playing around.

7Captain Wise-Voice Can Drag On
Like Yellowbrow, Captain Wise-Voice is more annoying than anything. A lot of the fight poses no real danger, with the Destined One chipping away at the boss’s legs to deal damage slowly. Occasionally, however,Wise-Voice will deploy attacks that can quickly take out the Destined One’s health bar, making minor mistakes quickly snowball into an unfun way to die.
How To Beat Captain Wise Voice In Black Myth: Wukong
One of the main Yaoguai King bosses in Chapter 3 of Black Myth: Wukong is Captain Wise-Voice, a massive beast you must beat in a cramped space.
Black Myth: Wukong’s first patchactually slightly reduced the stats of Captain Wise-Voice, so he shouldn’t be as hard in the future. At launch, however, replaying Captain Wise-Voice was just terminally boring in a way that other bosses weren’t, and it relies on a form of difficulty that makes it stand out among bosses that tend to be fun and exciting. Fighting other bosses a few times can fly by, but fighting Captain Wise-Voice a few times feels like an eternity.

6The Yin Tiger Makes A Friendly Fight Serious
Unlike a lot ofBlack Myth: Wukong’s hardest bosses, the Yin Tiger is an ally looking to spar rather than a dedicated enemy of the Destined One. He can be found in the Zodiac Village, a secret area that houses NPCs willing to provide services to the Destined One (in the Yin Tiger’s case, upgrading armor). That positive relationship doesn’t hold him back on the battlefield, however, andthe Yin Tiger’s aggressive attack pattern makes it hard to hit every single dodge perfectly.
What stops the Yin Tiger from feeling like too much of a wall is that there’s no real need to fight him when first meeting him. If the fight proves troublesome, it’s always possible to check back later when missing a few dodges won’t matter as much. The reward for the fight is a nice transformation in combat, but thanks to some attractive alternatives, it’s not a must-have.

5The Hundred-Eyed Daoist Master Has A Brutal Phase
The difficulty of the Hundred-Eyed Daoist Master is highly dependent on a secret item. If the Destined One discovers the secret area of Chapter Four and acquires theWeaver’s Needle, it isn’t one of the worst fights in the game. Without the needle, however, the Hundred-Eyed Daoist Master is a contender for the toughest boss of all, and he easily puts the prior final bosses of each chapter to shame.
The Hundred-Eyed Daoist Master has an impressive array of attacks all throughout the battle, buthis low-health phase is a different beast entirely. Without the needle, it becomes incredibly difficult to avoid moves that deal absolutely punishing amounts of damage. Carefully conserving resources until this phase of the fight can help, but it still won’t make it anything close to easy.

4The Scorpionlord Is Best Avoided
Chapter Four’s secret area of Purple Wind Mountain builds up to a challenging boss fight with the Duskveil, but the most terrifying foe in the chapter is actually encountered earlier. The Scorpionlord doesn’t have to be found if the Destined One minds his own business. If the Destined One rolls into his jars of alcohol, however, all bets are off, and the wrath of the Scorpionlord is something to behold.
More than anything else, the Scorpionlord is just relentless, with fast, frequent attacks that don’t let upand test the Destined One’s dodging skills to their limits. He can easily reach across the entire arena to deal damage to the Destined One with no hesitation. Beating him does unlock an appealing reward, but there’s no shame in leaving the Scorpionlord alone and proceeding on to fight the Duskveil unbothered.

3The Yellow Loong Has Few Weaknesses
Meeting Yellow Loong at all is a challenge inBlack Myth: Wukong, but the convoluted process of finding him is nothing compared to the fight itself. As the payoff to a succession of Loong fights hidden throughout the game, Yellow Loong makes the others look like walks in the park.
Black Myth: Wukong - How To Find & Beat Red Loong (Secret Boss)
Red Loong is a secret boss found in Chapter 1 of Black Myth: Wukong, but you can only access this fight when you gain an item from later in the game.
Intense attack strings can be hard to dodge, but patiently responding to them and waiting for good opportunities to attack is the best way to go.The charged thrust stance helps get in some damage from a distance, making the fight significantly easier, but it’s a challenge with any strategy.

2The Great Sage’s Broken Shell Is A Final Challenge
Black Myth: Wukong’s final boss confrontation is a multiple phase extravaganza, but the last two pieces of the fight against the Great Sage’s Broken Shell are where things get truly intense. While previous bosses are often good at shutting down certain moves and spells, the Great Sage’s Broken Shell is great at stopping just about everything that the Destined One might want to try. Fromnabbing the healing gourdto take a swig of his own to bouncing the Destined One between clones dealing damage, this fight doesn’t hold back.
Anyone who can make it to the end of the game should definitely be able to beat the Great Sage’s Broken Shell with some practice, but it comes at the end for a reason. For those who stubbornly hold onto medicines or leave some Sparks uninvested, this is the time to put everything on the table.

1Erlang Shen Takes The Cake
Although getting the true ending of the game still requires fighting the Great Sage’s Broken Shell as the final boss, it adds an even harder one beforehand.Erlang Shen is the first opponent to give the Monkey King real trouble inJourney to the West, and the game certainly respects his immense power. He’s even more merciless than the Great Sage’s Broken Shell about shutting down the Destined One’s opportunities, requiring an intense amount of skill to defeat.
Black Myth: Wukong - How To Get The Secret Ending
Beyond the normal ending of Black Myth: Wukong is a hidden ending that provides an extra challenge and also contains a nod to the game’s inspiration.
The key to triumphing over Erlang Shen mostly lies in focusing on breaking his stance and using the Plantain Fan received at the end of Chapter 5 when he gets to his hardest phases. There’s no way to make it easy, however, and beating Erlang Shen easily proves anyone’s worth as a master of everythingBlack Myth: Wukongthrows at the Destined One.
